Comparing with optical remote sensing techniques  passive remote sensing data have been proved to be effective for observing snowpack parameters such as snow depth and snow water equivalent  which can penetrate snowpack without clouds interferences. The Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) loaded on the Chinese FengYun-3B (FY-3B) satellite is gradually used in the global environment research through November  2011. In this paper  we proposed a snow depth retrieval algorithm to estimate snow depth in Northeast China using MWRI passive microwave remote sensing data. A decision tree method of snow identification was firstly designed to distinguish different snow cover conditions in order to eliminate other interference signals. After using the proposed decision tree method  the processing results were further used to retrieve the snow depth in Northeast China. Finally  the practical snow depth data and the MODIS data were collected for the accuracy assessment of the proposed snow depth retrieval method. The experimental results demonstrated that the RMSE of snow depth used the proposed method was approximately 3 cm in Northeast China. 2012 SPIE.

In most applications of remote sensing data  special spatial information is required from a finer to a coarser spatial resolution with appropriate upscaling methods. The purpose of this paper is to compare and evaluate current spatial upscaling methods using MODIS remote sensing data with multiple spatial resolutions. In the research  Northeast China was selected as the study area. MODIS data with spatial resolutions of 250 m (2 bands) and 500 m (7 bands) were used as the test data. Through using the selected upscaling methods  the Band 1 and Band 2 data of MODIS were scaled up from 250 m to 500 m spatial resolution. On the basis of land cover characteristics of Northeast China  the MODIS data located in the study area was classified into the five land cover types  including water  grasslands  forests  farmlands and bare lands using maximum likelihood method. The land cover classification results were further compared with MODIS Land Cover Type product. Finally  Structural Similarity (SSIM) was selected to evaluate the effects of these upscaling methods. The research can provide more useful information for spatial scaling transformation in remote sensing data applications. 2012 SPIE.

In the imaging process of the space remote sensing camera  there was degradation phenomenon in the acquired images. In order to reduce the image blur caused by the degradation  the remote sensing images were restored to give prominence to the characteristic objects in the images. First  the frequency-domain notch filter was adopted to remove strip noises in the images. Then using the ground characters with the knife-edge shape in the images  the point spread function of the imaging system was estimated. In order to improve the accuracy  the estimated point spread function was corrected with Gaussian fitting method. Finally  the images were restored using the adaptive Wiener filtering with the fitted point spread function. Experimental results of the real remote sensing images showed that almost all strip noises in the images were eliminated. After the denoised images were restored  its variance and its gray mean gradient increased  also its laplacian gradient increased. Restoration with Gaussian fitted point spread function is beneficial to interpreting and analyzing the remote sensing images. After restoration  the blur phenomenon of the images is reduced. The characters are highlighted  and the visual effect of the images is clearer. 2011 IEEE.

The remote sensing camera in large field and wide cover needs CCD with enough pixels. But the existing CCD cannot satisfy the practical needs. Therefore several pieces of CCD which has insufficient pixels are spliced to get a long CCD array with plenty of pixels. The precision requirements of CCD splicing are very strict  so that the same high accuracies are required in the precision detection of CCD splicing. When detecting precision of CCD splicing  the graphical markers with simple geometric structure in the CCD package are selected as templates. The position precision data of the graphical markers in each CCD are obtained using the template matching algorithm. Using the unified objective templates  the focal plane which has multi-chip of CCD is detected by template matching algorithm. Experiment results show that the template matching algorithm can enhance the located precision of each CCD to 0.347m. The splicing precision detection with template matching algorithm can avoid the subjective error caused by the conventional detection method. And its results are more accurate. In addition  without manual intervention in the process of precision detection  the efficiency of precision detection is improved. 2011 IEEE.

The paper designs a driving circuit of high sensitive  wide dynamic and high signal-to-noise ratio for binocular CCD imaging system which adopts a Dalsa-made high resolution full-frame 33-mega pixels area CCD FTF5066M. Inner structure and driving timing of the FTF5066M sensor are presented. Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is used as the main device to accomplish the timing design of the circuits and power driver control of the two sensors. By using the Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) technique  the video noise is reduced and the SNR of the system is increased. A 12- bit A/D converter is used to improve the image quality. The output rate of the imaging system designed with integrated chip can reach to 1.3 frames per second through bi-channel. For its good performance  low power consumption and small volume  the driving system can be applied to aeronautics and astronautics field. With a further improvement  a maximum data output rate of 2.7 frames per second can be reached through all the eight channels of the two CCDs. 2010 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

The paper designs a driving circuit of high sensitive  wide dynamic for CCD sensing imaging system which adopts a Dalsa-made high resolution full-frame 33-mega pixels area CCD FTF5066M. Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is used as the main device to accomplish the timing design of the circuits and power driver control of the sensor. By using the Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) technique  the video noise is reduced and the SNR of the system is increased. The output rate of the imaging system designed with integrated chip can reach to 1.3 frames per second through bi-channel output. We use the histogram specification to adjust the brightness of the captured image. And then use the median filtering to suppress the noise. The traditional gray mean gradient (GMG) and the objective evaluation method based on Human Visual System (HVS) used to verify the effect of image enhancement. 2010 IEEE.
