Potential usage of the magnetron-motion-free mode of one ion confined in a combined trap

英文摘要The explicit expression of the magnetron-motion-free mode (MMFM) operation line is derived, which separates the first stability region of a combined trap into a Penning-like region and a Paul-like region. Moreover, this stable MMFM of a trapped ion will be simplified to a highly localized cyclotron motion without magnetron motion and other higher-order frequency oscillations if the pseudopotential approximation is satisfied by selecting suitable operation parameters.
