英文摘要This study aimed to investigate the distribution, levels of pollutants, and sources of twelve trace metals in sediments throughout the China Sea. The results indicated significantly higher average levels of trace metals in East China Sea (ECS) and South China Sea (SCS) shallow sea compared to the Bohai Sea (BS) and Yellow Sea (YS). Moreover, the levels of trace metals in the shallow seas were notably higher than those in coral reefs of SCS. The sediments exhibited low to moderate pollution for As, Se, and Cd in China Sea. However, certain sea regions showed pollution for Cu, Zn, Ni, or Ag. Moderate ecological risks were exhibited in ECS and low ecological risks in BS, YS and SCS. Yet, no pollution was observed in coral reefs. Anthropogenic sources could account for 63-81% (Ni, As, Se, Cd, and Pb) in BS, 49-72% (As, Se, Ag, Cd, and Pb) in YS, 43-74% (Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Cd, and Pb) in ECS, 55-65% (Zn, As, Se, Cd, and Pb) in SCS, and 39-71% (Pb) in the coral reefs of SCS. These findings suggested a significant influence of human activities on the levels and distribution of trace metals in sediments of entire China Sea. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
