英文摘要To prevent the loss of calculation precision encountered in the process of solving generalized thermoelastic problems by means of integral transformation techniques, an alternative method, i.e., direct finite element method developed recently, is used in the time domain to directly solve a generalized thermoelastic dynamic problem of a thin slim strip subject to a thermal shock based on the generalized thermoelasticity proposed by Lord and Shulman (abbreviated as L-S). It turns out that the direct finite element method can highly ensure the calculation precision in solving the one-dimensional generalized thermoelastic coupled problem formulated in the context of L-S theory. The distributions of dimensionless temperature, displacement and stress in the strip are displayed graphically. From the distribution of temperature, the unique feature of heat wave front can be observed clearly, i.e., a sharp jump of temperature exits at the position of heat wave front.
