Investigating the Tensile Properties of Micro-Nanostructured 304 Stainless Steel with SEM and In-Situ Tension

英文摘要Herein, the uniaxial tensile tests were carried out at room temperature and mechanical properties were compared under various process conditions for micro-nanostructured 304 stainless steel, prepared by alumina thermite reaction. The specimens for micro-nanostructured 304 stainless steel, in as-cast by thermal annealing process with 1000 degrees C for 0.5 hrs, was chosen for in-situ observation. Samples of these materials provided dynamic recording of the entire process from initial loading to damage by SEM combined with in-situ tension station equipment. The results showed that micro-cracks were found in many places in the initial stage of the tension. While as the tensile stress became 615 MPa, the fractures were easily initiated juncture between austenite phase and ferrite phase. Cracks propagation direction was nearly perpendicular to tensile stress. The tensile strength was 997 MPa and the elongation remained 11.8%.
