High resolution climate reconstructions during the late Holocene,
especially the past 2,000 years, can provide an opportunity to place the
current global warming in a long-term context and help understand the
annual to centennial scale climate dynamics, the interactions between
nature and human beings and the potential future climate trends (IPCC,
2017). Many works have focused on the climate changes during this
time interval, including the famous PAGES 2K Network since the 2008
(PAGES, 2017).
The Asia-Pacific region is the most complicated area of the global
climate system involving the interactions of several important climatic
modes, such as the El Niño-Southern Oscillations (ENSO),
Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), monsoon, and so on. The complex
structure of the climatic system, coupled with dense population and
strong human- nature interactions bring challenges to the understanding and prediction of regional climate changes.
