英文摘要Directional in-coupling of light into a single-mode silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguide is demonstrated by bending it into a catenary shape. When a circularly polarized incidence is normally projected on the bending SOI waveguide, it generates the spin-orbit interaction and gives rise to unidirectional propagation. The contrast ratio between the optical flows toward different sides of the waveguide reaches 17 dB. By switching the handedness of incidence, the optical flow is reversed. This unique property may provide a potential pathway for the implementation of integrated polarization router or detection. Compared with the previous spin-controlled directional in-coupling devices, symmetry-breaking and additional subwavelength structure is no need anymore. © 1989-2012 IEEE.
