Broadband tunable RCS reduction using a single-layer active metasurface

英文摘要In this paper, we propose a novel tunable metesurface design for broadband tunable RCS reduction. This metasurface element is composed of a single-layer metallic pattern involved with a PIN diode and a varactor diode. By tuning the loaded PIN and varactor diodes, the absorbing frequency band of our metasurface can be dynamically controlled. In addition, we can also manipulate its reflected field wavefront to change the low-scattering frequency band. Full-wave simulation results show that the absorbing frequency can be tuned between 3.5 and 9 GHz, and manipulating backward scattering wave can further make the low-scattering frequency reconfigurable between 9 GHz and 12GHz. As a result, broadband tunable RCS reduction property has been realized by our design. © 2019 IEEE.
