A field experiment was conducted during the spring season in Yantai, China in 2017 and 2018 to study the effects of foliar applications of different concentrations of seaweed extract(prepared from Sargassum horneri)on plant growth and fruit quality of sweet cherry(Prunus avium). The relevant indicators of growth and fruit nutrients were detected by spraying the seaweed extract with different dilutions and water control on the foliar surface. Among all treatments in 2017, the effect of seaweed extract diluted 100 times was the most significant. The leaf area, transverse diameter, longitudinal diameter, single fruit weight, hardness, pulp thickness and sweet cherry fruit quality of the treated group were better than those of the control group, soluble sugar and ascorbic acid content increased significantly. In 2018, based on the results of the 2017 experiment, experiments were set up for repeated verification. Although the orchard reduced production due to weather, the treatment group still showed a tendency to improve cherry growth and fruit quality.
