英文摘要PURPOSE:To attain the simultaneous emission of required light, easy assembling and adjustment, and the cost reduction of a device by forming a separation layer between first and second activation layers, and separating the first activation layer by a groove formed between first and second light emission areas. CONSTITUTION:The first light emission area 14 where the recording and erasure of information are performed, the second light emission area 15 where the reproduction and reading are performed, and a third light emission area 16 which detects a distance between a medium and an optical head are comprised by using the first activation layer 7, and fourth-sixth light emission areas 17-19 which detect recording tracks are comprised by using the second activation layer 3 formed in parallel with the layer 7. The separation layer 5 to limit a current path is formed between the layers 7 and 3 to drive the areas 14 and 15 independently, and the layer 7 is separated by the groove 13 formed between the areas 14 and 15. By forming the device in such way, it is possible to emit a various kinds of light required by an optical head simultaneously, and to facilitate the loading of the optical head since each light emission area is fixed, and also, to reduce the number of optical components. As a result, the cost of the device can be reduced.
