英文摘要The present embodiment relates to: a light-emitting device in which the positional relationships between the centers of gravity of modified refractive-index regions and respectively associated lattice points are different from in conventional light-emitting devices; and a production method for the light-emitting device. In the light-emitting device, a laminate that includes a light-emitting part and a phase modulation layer that is optically coupled to the light-emitting part is provided on a substrate. The phase modulation layer includes a base layer and a plurality of modified refractive-index regions that are provided within the base layer. The centers of gravity of the modified refractive-index regions are arranged on imaginary straight lines that pass through corresponding reference lattice points from among the lattice points of a virtual square lattice that has been laid out on a layout plane for the base layer. The distance along the imaginary straight lines between the reference lattice points and the centers of gravity of the modified refractive-index regions are individually set for each of the plurality of modified refractive-index regions such that light that forms an optical image is outputted from the light-emitting device.
