中文摘要Rare-earthorthoferritesinglecrystalNdFeO3 has been successfully grown by the floating-zone techniqueusing afour-mirror-image furnace with flowing air.The polycrystalline feed and seedrods were prepared at apressure of 150MPa and sintered at 1200 1C. StructuralcharacteristicsofNdFeO3 single crystalwere studiedusingametallurgicalmicroscopeandbyscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)withenergy-dispersiveX-rayspectroscopy(EDX).X-ray diffraction pattern of the crystal with perfectshapeindicated the excellent quality of the crystal grown at 9mm/h without any shoulder,clarifyingtheabsenceofsub-grain. Particular at tentionwasgiventotheinfluenceofgrowthrateonstructuralpropertiesofthe crystals. TheX-rayrockingcurveofthecrystalhasasmallfull-widthathalf-maximum(FWHM), confirmingthehighcrystalqualityofthesample.Theresultsindicatethattheoptimalgrowthconditionwas 9mm/h growth rate and 5L/min air flow,compared with the use of other growth rates(3and6mm/h).ThegrowthrateplaysanimportantroleinNdFeO3 single crystalgrowthbythefloating-zone technique.
