Evaluation of farmers' willingness to accept compensation in construction of urban water sources - A case study of capital water sources

英文摘要Urban water sources are of great importance to maintain the sustainable water supply to the city. While the construction and protection of water sources usually imposes a series of negative external influences on the local residents, which weakens the sustainability of water supply. As one of important capital water sources, Miyun was chosen as a case, where contingent valuation method was used to estimate negative external influences from the construction and protection of the capital water sources on the local farmers. The factors influencing the interviewee's willingness to accept (WTA) were identified through regression analysis, together with the coefficients of the function of WTA. Then the amount of the interviewee's WTA as the estimate of external costs was calculated with the result around 90 million Yuan.
