Metallogenic chronology of the stratiform Cu orebody in the Dabaoshan Cu polymetallic deposit, northern Guangdong Province and its geological significance

英文摘要The genesis of the stratiform copper orebody in the Dabaoshan copper polymetallic deposits has long been a hot topic with two major models, namely, the submarine volcanic hydrothermal sedimentation model and the porphyry-skarn model. This study takes the Dabaoshan copper polymetallic deposit in northern Guangdong as an example to analyze its metallogenic ages using molybdenite Re-Os dating and sericite Ar-Ar dating methods. In this study we obtain molybdenite Re-Os model ages ranging from 165.7 +/- 2.3Ma to 163.4 +/- 2.4Ma (2 sigma, n = 9), isochron age of 141.1 +/- 1.4Ma and weighted mean age of 164.8 +/- 0.8Ma. Meanwhile, we obtain sericite Ar-Ar ages of 166.6 +/- 1.6Ma (DB011) and 171.7 +/- 2.0Ma (DB020), with the corresponding reverse isochron ages of 167.0 2.0Ma and 161.7 +/- 1.7Ma. Due to excess argon, the age of 171.7 +/- 2.0Ma is a little bit higher but all the other Ar-Ar ages are the same as the Re-Os isochron age. Combining with previous studies, the mineralization age of the Dabaoshan Cu ore deposit is coeval with the large scale lithosphere extension stage and mineralization in South China, indicating that the Dabaoshan Cu ore deposit was formed as a result of lithosphere extension and thinning events of the same period.
