英文摘要In this paper, we report a new method to predict the pin-assisted-melt impregnation of a fiber bundle to a high-viscosity resin. An analytical model is established based on pulling a single fiber over a pin located in a melt pool. The impregnation depth is studied as a function of diameter of the pin, the line speed of the fiber, the viscosity of the resin, the pre-tension on the fiber, and the width of the fiber bundle. The results show that the level of impregnation is highly dependent on the fiber width, but insensitive to the line speed of the fiber, the pre-tension and the pin diameter, in accord with the previous reported experimental result.; Materials Science, Composites; Polymer Science; SCI(E); EI; 0; ARTICLE; 11; 731-737; 31
