英文摘要Methane adsorption on silica has been studied by Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The spectrometer was fitted with a specially designed IR cell capable of performing in a wide temperature range of 100-1000 K. Adsorbed methane gives three IR bands at 3008, 3904 and 1304 cm-1 which could be attributed to the V1 (2904 cm-1), V3 (3008 cm-1) and V4 (1304 cm-1) modes of methane, respectively. The appearance of the V1 mode indicates that the Td symmetry of methane is distorted by the adsorption. The intensities of the three bands increase remarkably with outgassing temperatures near 573 K and then slowly with higher outgassing temperatures. A hydroxyl with the IR band at 3750 cm-1 is perturbed evidently by the adsorbed methane, therefore resulting in a red-shift band at 3720 cm-1. Coadsorbed CO slightly affects the adsorbed methane, indicating only weak interaction between CH4 and surface cations of silica. It is proposed that the adsorbed CH4 on silica is formed mainly via the interaction with both surface hydroxyls and surface coordinatively unsaturated oxygen-anions.
