英文摘要	李德元，厦门大学马克思主义学院副教授，南海研究院兼职教授，历史学博士。; 【中文摘要】鸦片战争以降，在西方殖民势力东侵和中国传统社会架构内海洋性因素缓慢成长的双重作用下，中国近代海疆观念开始缓慢地形成。中国近代海疆观念的形成与西方近代海疆观念的产生相比，具有明显的滞后性；在由古代传统单一的海疆观念向近代全方位、整体性的海疆观念形成过程中，充满着争论和斗争，形成极其艰难和痛苦。中国近代海疆观念的形成加速了近代中国民族国家的构建，促进了近代中国社会思想观念的变革。 【Abstract】After the Opium War，the concept of coastal areas and territorial waters began to gradually and slowly take shape due to the dual effects of the eastward invasion of western colonial powers and the slow growth of awareness of oceanic elements within the traditional Chinese societal framework. Obviously，compared with the west，China started much later in developing the concept of coastal areas and territorial waters. The formation of such a concept went through a difficult and painful process full of controversies and struggles since China was undergoing the transition from an old，traditional，and simple territorial concept to a modern，all-dimensional，and integrated concept of coastal areas and territorial waters. This paper argues that the formation of the concept of coastal areas and territorial waters sped up the construction of the modern national state of China and prompted changes in the conception of modern Chinese society.
