This way of historical writing combined with both superstitious and reasonable thinking reflects the mental complex of people in that times. In Zuozhuan, miraculous predictions become a factor to express causal explanations and historical moral teaching. Influenced by Zuozhuan in certain degree, religious belief and historical illustration, as well as moral judgment combined more deeply in later historical writings, which become one of the most important features of traditional Chinese historiography.
