中文摘要	19世纪中后期,以专业学院为组织模式的专业教育在美国大学兴起,不仅推动了当时美国社会的长足发展,更成为后来全世界大学专业教育的典范。专业教育的兴起是美国社会发展所要求的。工业时代对专业人才的需求,"镀金时代"的社会问题,专业协会的发展及其与政府、市场间的制衡构成了美国专业教育发展的社会机制。而以高水平专业训练与"服务导向"道德律为核心的专业主义思想则是专业教育发展的精神和理论支柱。这两个基础也决定了美国专业教育后来发展的进程,而一旦这两个基础发生动摇,美国专业教育必然就会产生问题和危机。他国若要借鉴美国经验,须对此有认识和权衡。; University professional education developed in the US during mid-and late-nineteenth century,with professional schools as its organizational base.It not only fostered great leap of the country then,but also served as a model for universities around the globe later.The rise of university professional education was a response to the needs of its time.The industries' calling for professional talents,the social sicknesses of the"Gilded Age",and the development of professional associations as well as the check and balance among the associations,governments,and the market all constituted the social base on which university professional education thrived.In the meanwhile,the ideology of professionalism that focused on high-standard professional training and the"service-oriented"morality provided cultural and theoretical support.These two bases decisively influenced later developments of university professional education in the US,which,once damaged,inevitably generated crises.
