中文摘要The effect of air gaps on the heat transfer at the shell-mold interface was included in finite element model to accurately analyze the heat transfer and solidification to predict the strand shell thickness and uniformity at the mold exit of a continuous casting mold. The heat flux at the corner had to be properly selected to predict the solidification characteristics in the corner of the strand shell. The model accurately predicted the solid shell thickness in a billet and was used to simulate the solidification of a new type H-beam. The results show that faster casting speeds give thinner strand shell thickness. The strand shell of the H-beam is thinnest at the joint between the web and the wing so the cooling water flow at that point must be increased to ensure sufficient strand shell thickness at the mold exit.
