中文摘要Optical communication and optical sensing systems require a wide-range of tunable wavelength filters. Fiber Bragg gratings can be used for such filters by using the bending strain to tune the wavelengths. Equations were derived relating the wavelength tuning of fiber Bragg gratings to the bending strain. Tests showed that a wavelength tuning range of 48 nm could be obtained with a fiber Bragg grating with a broadening of the 3 dB bandwidth of less than 0.1 nm. The experiment wavelength tuning results were also consistent with the theoretical predictions.
